Over the past 17 years I have had the distinct privilege of leading multiple IT and Security programs. For the past five years I have had the unique opportunity to design, lead, and grow an Information Security Program as the CISO at a world-class healthcare organization. Prior to that I served over seven years as a Communications Officer in the U.S. Air Force, where I led multiple infrastructure, IT operations, systems architecture, and information security functions and also earned a Master of Science from the Air Force Institute of Technology.
I am particularly passionate about finding new ways to enable an organization to achieve its strategic objectives, solve problems, and deliver value to its customers. While I have spent my career in a technical field, I understand that technology alone does not provide an organization with a competitive advantage. I attribute much of my success to my time spent (both academically and professionally) focusing on skills such as complex problem solving, leadership, and teamwork. Beyond technology, I recognize the importance of investing in people, treating data as a key asset, and continuous and transformational process improvement aligned to the business goals.
I am committed to continuous personal improvement and devote time each day acquiring new knowledge. My areas of interest and focus include architecture (enterprise, systems, application and cloud), leadership, organizational behavior, business process re-engineering, and risk management.

I currently reside in New York City with my wife and two children. In whatever freetime I’m able to find I enjoy learning the Italian language and piano, and occassionally dabbling in amateur photography (http://500px.com/mczumak).
